Thank you @lynbrownmp for tabling this important #WorldFoodDay debate.

Starvation is being used as a weapon of war. Children are innocent victims of this outrage & suffer terribly.

Malnutrition is the biggest killer of under 5s.  International Humanitarian Law must be upheld.
Thank you to all the nutrition champions at the party conferences.

Malnutrition is preventable & treatable. Yet it kills more than 2 million under 5s a year.

We need political commitment to stop this tragedy.

A hungry world isn't healthy or secure.

720 million people are going hungry.
This #WorldFoodDay, hold up an #EmptyPlate and demand leaders take action.

Hunger is a political choice. Show your #EmptyPlates to tell leaders: we choose action.

This #WorldFoodDay: 📸 Empty plate. 🗣 Tag leaders. 🍽
Demand change.
Now more than ever, we must invest in resilience.
The #G20 must show real leadership and follow through on commitments to end hunger and poverty, including implementing and financing the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.

#HungryforAction #WorldFoodDay
Full moon illuminates a field of empty plates under a night sky, with the text "720 MILLION EMPTY PLATES" highlighting global hunger.
Hunger is human-made.

️People starve not from a lack of food, but lack of action. Every empty plate is a failure of leadership, not a tragedy, but a choice.

It’s time to end it.

Hunger in the 21st century is a political choice.
❌ 720M people go to bed hungry while solutions exist.

Leaders, who do you serve? We demand action to save lines NOW.

3 days until Hunger to Hypertension: Why Tackling Malnutrition is Key to Preventing Non-Communicable Diseases, our event with @THETlinks @Conservatives conference.

Malnutrition in childhood is linked with chronic conditions in later life.

Our @RohYakobi will be speaking.
#CP25
We need to talk about this!
Malnutrition signals inequality. It stunts development & weakens immunity.
From Grassroots to Global: Advancing Health Equity Together is @AFGHnetwork's event @UKLabour Conference. Our Expert Adviser @RohYakobi will be speaking.
#GlobalHealth #SDG2 @WHO
Child stunting has dropped to 23.2% globally, showing that targeted nutrition interventions work.

Leaders can help protect the next generation by supporting policies that fund maternal health, improve diets and build resilient global food systems.

School meal programmes in Latin America have improved nutrition, school attendance and local economies.

The UK can support and expand such initiatives worldwide, helping children to thrive. MPs can drive this through aid commitments and international partnerships.

He should know.

As Former Head of the Army & top strategist, Lord Dannatt says, Defence, Diplomacy & Development are the 3 cores of UK influence around the world.

Governments have cut ODA. Conflict reflects that.

Nutrition is foundational to development.
#InvestinNutrition
In 2024, 307 million people in Africa faced hunger.

This is a humanitarian crisis that demands attention. By keeping food security high on the UK’s foreign policy agenda, MPs can help mobilise resources and deliver change where it is needed most.

#SDG2 #ZeroHunger
Food price inflation is making healthy diets harder to afford, particularly in the poorest countries.

MPs can help place affordable nutrition at the heart of policy by addressing trade barriers, boosting local production and ensuring fair global food markets.
Food insecurity is complex. It makes every situation worse.

But the UK has world-leading scientists & researchers finding solutions.

That is why we submitted evidence to the @CommonsSITC inquiry on Innovation and Global #FoodSecurity

@JohnInnesCentre @Rothamsted @susfoodshef
In Africa over 20% of the population is hungry, that's 307 million people.

It is a perpetual crisis if leaders don’t act now.

Passed from mother to child, malnutrition damages physical & mental growth.

Nutrition must be an international development priority.
#InvestInNutrition
We believe that access to good nutrition is a right that should be enjoyed by all around the world, and a vital prerequisite to achieving wider development goals.

That is why we submitted evidence to the @CommonsIDC inquiry into the UK’s Development Partnership with Nigeria.
In 2015, the world committed to ending hunger by 2030.

Today, time is running out & we are dangerously far off track.

Ending hunger is possible, but it requires urgent action, bold leadership & sustained investment in nutrition & food systems.

UAMH is delighted to welcome Yasmin Mahboubi as our newest member of staff.

Yasmin is our new Head of Advocacy and Policy, covering for Amy Smith while she is on maternity leave. She joins us from Oxfam GB where she was Head of UK Government Relations.
More than 2.8 billion people, around one-third of the global population, could not afford a healthy diet in 2022. In low-income countries, this affected 71.5% of people, compared with just 6.3% in high-income countries. A stark example of global nutritional inequality.
#FoodSecurity #SOFI
Hunger is unequal: in every region, women and girls are more impacted by hunger and malnutrition than men.

Gender sensitive policies and programmes must be scaled up and resourced.

Hunger is human-made and so are the solutions. The time to act is NOW.
#SOFI2025 #HungryforAction
📈 Hunger is surging in parts of Africa, while
other regions make progress.

🚨 African leaders must act now—fully
implement the #CAADP Strategy 2026-2035
to transform food systems and end hunger.

⏳ The future of millions is at stake.
#SOFI2025 #HungryforAction
Rural communities – the backbones of our food systems – are going hungry.

32% of rural people are food insecure, compared to 23.9% in urban areas.

📢 Urgent, rural-focused action is needed to save lives, build resilience & secure the future.

#SOFI2025 #HungryforAction
🚨 As many as 720 million people faced
hunger in 2024.

With less than 5 years to meet #SDG2, the
latest #UN report is a wake-up call:
🌍 We need bold, united action—now—to
end hunger and build resilient food systems.
There’s no time to waste. #SOFI2025
#HungryforAction
The cost of a healthy diet is climbing, driven
by rising food prices in 2023-24.

2.6 bln people can't afford a healthy diet.
This is a crisis🚨

It's time to fix food systems to work for
everyone, everywhere. #SOFI2025
