I run a charity called The Laptop Project that refurbishes tech for people in need.

Thanks to a generous donor and the VERY hard work of three of our volunteers (including a former intern), we were able to send out a batch of *20* laptops to families that had been impacted by the recent storms...
Comment someone made on threads about my last post:

“Word policing again. Pass”

Directly under:
“This user limits who can respond to them”

Irony ftw

A Romani friend of mine asked someone to not use the G word. Firmly. The other fellow said the film he was discussing used the term, so it is “ok”.

People, when a group asks you not to use a word and tells you it’s a slur, please listen.

If you can make a pasta sauce with any two ingredients and don’t talk about tomatos, you’ve passed the bechamel test

What's on the menu for #shabbat this week?

Dinner: a turkey pot pie, with mushrooms & green beans.

Lunch: "slow cooker mock smoked ribs", served with a side of whipped potatoes

I do believe I might actually have enough meat for this Shabbat

I live in a neighborhood without a lot of Jews. This year at the Christmas tree lighting, the town is also having a table for Chanukkah.

I have never been to a Christmas tree lighting. I am strongly considering going, to show them how much this inclusion means to me.

A little bit goes a long way.

“I thought I had disappointed everyone, but most importantly my parents. I thought I had forfeited the right to come home. But I knocked, and they opened. I swallowed my pride, accepted help, and in that painful humility, I found a true beracha.”

Owning Our Stories, Finding Places to Fall: Vayishlach
Rebbe Nachman of Breslov taught, If you believe you can damage, believe you can repair. Owning our story means believing in repair, even when estrangement or shame feels irreparable.

Unpopular Opinion: I think DC should shift some of their characters to the past. Like, what if Infinity Inc were the "main heroes" of the 70s/80s?

Tonight and tomorrow is the Yartzheit (anniversary of passing) of my paternal grandmother, Edith Luchins. She was awesome, and not just because she was my grandmother. She was the first woman to become a tenured professor of mathematics at RPI.

"In America, Vayetzei often falls near Thanksgiving, a holiday of tables and memory, of absence and abundance....What happens when a parsha of wandering meets a holiday of rootedness? When Yaakov’s stone pillow meets Granny’s crowded table?"

Stone By Stone, Table by Table: Vayetzei and the Ritual of Return
The Zohar teaches that sulam (ladder) and kol (voice) share the same gematria: 136. The ladder is not just a structure; it is also a sound. The ascent is not only movement, but utterance.

Unpopular opinion: DC should have ignored the leak and gone through with the original plans for “Armageddon 2001”

(It’s unpopular because who else is still thinking about the storyline??)

New review up! I have had the pleasure of testing out the #Lenovo Yoga Plus #Android tablet. A #Snapdragon 8 tablet featuring the first AI solution to not annoy me, I honestly think it is a better overall value than an iPad Pro. And I say that as a Mac user.

Tonight‘s experiment? Persimmon chicken. It is in an herbs de province rub with a pinch of smoked paprika as a shout out to my Ashkenazi roots 😉.

The spice blend smells good. We will see how the final product is

I went to look up some wall brackets for Nerf blasters on a 3d printing site.

Some of the “modifications” people make for dart blasters are cool.

Some are a bit scary.

Some are downright terrifying.
