Here's a quick intro if you don't know me from another platform!

Hi, I'm Michelle, when I'm not at my non-bookish day job, you can usually find me on the sidelines of a lacrosse field, eating at Torchy's, or tormenting my CPs w/snippets from drafts I have no intention of committing to 🤷🏻‍♀️
there are two types of people, one who worries about everything and so contingency plans relentlessly, the other who thinks things will all work themselves out and so serious planning is futile.

inevitably they marry each other 🙄

I can't think of a more deserving book
THE UNBECOMING OF MARGARET WOLF on Lithub's most anticipated list
"Arsén’s sophomore effort is equal parts sultry and cultured, featuring two Shakespearian actors in a unusual but emotionally fulfilling marriage of convenience who find themselves in a sticky situation." lithub.com/lit-hubs-mos...

it pains me a great deal to admit this, but often when I'm struggling to write, it's really me just being a perfectionist, so if I will put something ANYTHING down on a page and promise myself I can fix it tomorrow, it actually does work

I'm at the 75% mark of this WIP I've been messing with one way or the other for 2 yrs, stalled and wrestling how to rewrite this section up to the 88%. It's the book of my heart, my golden child creepy house in a hurricane...

and a fully developed plot for another book just dropped into my brain

Introduce yourself with your worst feedback from school.

Hi, I'm Michelle, and I'm clearly quite intelligent but very outspoken and need to quit reading all the time.

Hi, I'm Shayna, I write weird and somehow boring stuff at the same time.

Today, we call "curled up on the couch, watching the last few episodes of The Last Kingdom" self-care AND writing.

The character arcs, my goodness 🤌🏻

Post you from a different era of your life.

I know I've reached the 75% point of this WIP because I'm experiencing the writer equivalent of cut your bangs with dull scissors at 2am panic.

what if I throw out the old draft for this section & start new? what if I rewrite the WHOLE thing in a different tense?

it will pass.

I hope.

Me: all right, now that I have this scene map ironed out after last week's hiccup, we can get back to writing.

I don't know which writer needs this, but just because you drafted it one way before doesn't mean you have to draft it that way again*

*it's me, I'm the writer that needs this

I think a lot of people say they want morally gray FMCs + feminine rage in books, but what they mean is only if it looks EXACTLY like what they want/expect.

So, one more time y'all are putting women in a box and expecting them to meet an invisible, unwritten standard and I AM TIRED.

Yes, I have a novel! If you've ever thought, "Geez, this book THE FIRM by John Grisham would be swell if only Mary Stewart's American little sister wrote a fanfic version with some spice from a female POV, tossed in some military vets and set it in Dallas just for funsies," WELLLLLLLL...

Anyway if you want to see this play out in fiction (with some veiled references to evangelical scandals over the last 75+ years, yes there are LEGION) but with some commentary/consequences, have I got the book on sub for you...
