Folks the short answer to why government is shut down: GOP holds White House, House, and Senate; refuses to compromise; does Trump's bidding; and doesn't care about the damage to our country or people's lives. End of story.

I wrote this piece to make meaning out of my deep grief over the demolition of the East Wing of OUR White House. I found unexpected hope from Nikki Giovanni's poem, Quilts, and in the quilts of survival and community we’ve all inherited.

Apparently $20B of our taxpayer money wasn't enough to bail out Argentina.

Now Trump wants U.S. banks to divert ANOTHER $20B away from lending to American businesses, farmers, and families to prop up Milei's corrupt presidency and failing economy.

So much for America First.

George Edward Pickett wrote that if he ever captured a Black soldier, "I should have caused him to be immediately executed." Pickett did not believe Black people could be equal to white people. A military base in Virginia once again bears his name.

I had my annual mammogram today and wrote a reflection about having to pay extra because the imaging center was out of network of my health insurance provider. To all my girly friends, here's your friendly reminder to get your annual mammogram!

Some times in America we have the exact right President in office to lead in crucial moments (i.e. Lincoln). But at other times we have the exact wrong President in office (i.e. Andrew Johnson). Today we have the worst President in our history in office at a most crucial moment.
Wow. No. Words. 😡

There is no way to avoid turbulence or conflict now. This is going to cost us all something.

The question is whether or not we have the intestinal fortitude to save what’s left.

I would love to be part of the conversation on MSNBC related to the Kimmel story and it's chilling effects on first amendment, but unfortunately I was terminated by MSNBC for stating that "hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which lead to hateful actions".
This one guts me. What an amazing actor and progressive leader. Rest in peace, Mr. Redford.
