i’ve read many ecological economics and climate books and papers over the last twenty years, this is one of the very best.

focusing on lithium, a tremendous achievement in weaving an excruciatingly complex topic - the green transition - into a coherent illuminating narrative.

or is it both? reading 👇striking analysis of mineral supply chains, so yes, get a heat pump get solar etc in context of our deep relationship with nature because how we manufacture green utilities is as important as incentivizing consumer to switch home energy.

20 yrs back in a mtg with bill mcdonough i remember him telling me about a project to recycle entire cars by driving them into a chemical bath..so it doesn’t feel like we’ve made much progress on this front.

first they promised us flying cars, then recycled cars, and all we got was cups.

on defunding of medical research, recently chatting with local trump supporter, he used the phrase “political science” as a catchall to legitimise defunding, and then went on a conspiracy ramble about govt research/lymes disease lab leak

Tears in my eyes watching that and replays. As for Pecco, that looks like management intransigence enforcing ‘25 design and sceptical of ‘we had to go thru the journey’ when w/ rider data & ai they can run any number of synthetic tests to compare effects. I guess #93 results caused confirmation bias
