I still have their albums & EPs & some early Warsaw stuff. Their music resonated with me which others , mostly family, couldn’t comprehend. Strangely I have no merch clothing, or New Order..
As was the Chris Hedges interview by David Marr on ABC LNL
So true, & influential. Much as I like Love Will Tear Us Apart, it is not even close to their best song but the one most remember. Unknown Pleasures & Closer ( another great album cover) both have much better tracks imo
Love it..great album (which i still have), great cover design & I'm glad he's laid back enough to dump the suit in public
The ‘rat pack’- this season’s lambs. Still a few more to come..Can’t come quick enough. Need some sleep..
Not the most salubrious accommodation but at least it’s dry, sheltered from the wind & rain & they’ve got another for company..#springlambs
We're @ 550m ASL. Friday night was 1⁰C. Warm again this morning before the wind change & front rolling in. Showers on the way
Yep. My mum raised 7 of us on her own..
16°C @ 3.00am here in NE Vic. Unreal
These 2 little orphans will be living with our chickens for a while. Both have perked up after a few bottle feeds today..#springlambs
When I was a kid, you never went into the ram or bull paddock unless you could out sprint it..
This is Neville, 1 of our current Dorper rams. So good natured and docile. I had to clip his hooves recently. Alone. He’s 90+ kg, I’m 68 kg. Flipped him on his back. Job done in minutes, no struggle..🙂
Have already lost 1 lamb to a fox on Friday night.
Two years ago we lost 50% of our lambs to foxes before I started controlling their numbers. They, along with cats, decimate our small native animal & bird populations.
Started lambing Friday night- 8 so far including triplets..long way to go
Shot 12 foxes in the last week..115 for the year
Won’t be sleeping much for a while
This may seem cold but the death of every one of our dogs has affected me more than the death of my father or my brother. Despite that, I still wouldn’t have a life without a dog..
Couldn’t live without a dog Marcus. They complicate our lives- but enrich them so much. It hits hard when they die but it’s just another opportunity to give another dog a wonderful life. Ours have always been rescues..
This is our setup. Love the soft lighting & warm organic sound of retro hifi.
The speakers are around the corner facing up into the kitchen & bench where I spend the majority of my time..
They’re a precision instrument- the pinnacle, so I’m told. The best thing Linn ever made..
Mine has been to Sydney in the car a couple of times for refurb & calibration. Always given strict instructions how to pack it..
Forgot to include alcohol among the sensory experiences my dad enjoyed.. he loved to drink
I wonder who I’ll leave his hifi to with no kids- a sibling or friend most likely. My wife isn’t interested- likes the sound, hates the speakers..
Don’t look at the price of a new one..north of $20K. I couldn’t afford or justify the hifi I inherited & neither I suspect, could my dad. But he wasn’t into flash cars or houses- his pleasure came from sensory experiences- music, food, visual art & travel.
These showed up for it yesterday..thankfully high-quality valves are still available.
It is. So many stories, memories and relationships attached to it. It was my dad's most treasured possession & it's now mine. The guy who built it originally and rebuilt it for me was a great friend of my dad's & is now a good friend of mine.
He asked me to be the executor to his estate & I said I would on the condition he bequeathed me the hifi ( which wasn’t working at the time ). Anyway, it was like a weight off his shoulders & he said ‘ fuck I’m so glad you want it, I was wondering what to do with it ‘
We also added a DAC..
Sounds very similar to the hifi I inherited from my dad Marcus- Linn Sondek, Leak 24 power amp, Quad preamp, Denon CD & massive Goodman speakers. I had it all refurbished by an audio engineer friend & it sounds wonderful. I just added a Quad tuner. My dad thought no one would want it..
