(Image) They’ve been talking about updating representation on currency to highlight more diverse individuals and modern events. Take a bill in any country’s currency, switch out the image to a new portrait / historically significant event that deserves to be commemorated.

I was introduce to the music of Dolly Parton years ago, but more recently fell absolutely in love with it and her after listening to the Radio-Lab podcast series “Dolly Parton’s America”. It’s fantastic and gave me so much more appreciation for her talent and history.

Watercolor painting done entirely with espresso. I achieved varying shades of brown by adjusting the amount of espresso powder that I used.

I decided to use an image of Jodie Foster for inspiration. This is a scene from the film “Contact”. I have loved Jodie Foster in just about everything I’ve seen her in since she was a little girl. She has made such a huge to contribution to the world of entertainment. Also, this film in particular inspired me to get my amateur radio license. I am now certified at the highest level for amateur radio operators - General Class. This is the image, so I can remember it always.

2025 Rhapsody in Rogue-ish Hunt, Item 2.

“Spring is a time of change, and some things have been the same for decades and are well overdue for a makeover. Find a porcelain figurine + give it a makeover, showcasing its new attitude and outlook on life as it gears up to face the remainder of 2025.”

A “Denim Days” porcelain figurine depicting two children in autumn. Both children are wearing denim overalls. A girl with blond hair stands on the right holding a pumpkin with a first place ribbon on the front. A little boy kneels on the left and is reaching out to pick up his pumpkin. He is wearing a wide brimmed tan hat and a black bird sits on top of it. Some corn cobs are on the ground.

While I did not actually participate in this hunt, this could have been one of my entries as it fits the challenge.

In this image, the porcelain figurine has been completely altered. The child on the right now has black wings, a tail, and horns on her head. The place where the first place ribbon was on the pumpkin is now a dark opening to another dimension with a gloved hand reaching out and blood dripping.

The boy on the left has turned into a goat. (I hollowed out the head of one of those Schleich Farm toy figurines and glued it over his face.) His hat has been drawn on with charcoal and his shirt painted black. He is holding a long sword and the tip drips with bright red blood. The pumpkin before him now has a devious face drawn on and has also been darkened with graphite.

I used graphite over the entire base and added some blood on top of the corn cobs to appear as if itit dripped from the pumpkin opening above it.
