Gamedev, composer - he/him 🇨🇦 Currently working on Ephemeral Frame, a weird game about going inside photos. Wishlist it on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3605360/Ephemeral_Frame/

Finished up a new trailer for Ephemeral Frame just in time to submit for the Godot 2025 Showreel #godot #gamedev

Captures a lot more than the original teaser I feel!
*That super pixelated world is actually being rendered at a lower resolution (its not post processing). Similarly the n64 looking one is rendered lower with additional effects on top.

I did have to add another subviewport to the mix but it ended up being pretty flexible!
Finally got per-world post processing working so I've been playing around with a bunch of stuff from godotshaders

Took a bit of finagling to handle the transitions and cached images but I got there #godot #gamedev
my game will feature revolutionary mechanics such as sliding block puzzles #godot #gamedev

(there is a good reason I promise lol)
Thanks for the 500+ wishlists! Certainly see others post a lot more but for a first Steam game I appreciate them! #godot

Bonus cat to celebrate
Thanks!
The pictures really are just pictures here but as the camera lerps towards them the corresponding scene is loaded into another viewport and then I move the player there at just the right moment.
Easier said than done of course lol but the concept is straightforward enough.
Very good question lol. Currently it's only 16:9 but I'm planning on supporting narrower aspect ratios since that's easy enough. Ultrawide on the other hand might get shafted but I haven't ruled it out yet
I knew trying to pass mouse input to this was going to be a nightmare and it was lol, but the official "GUI in 3D" demo saved me 🙏
Going inside a picture inside a program on a computer.

Given the whole "going into different mediums" thing I really want to lean into worlds with drastically different styles.

Old games, black & white movies, oil paintings (like how Oblivion does it), etc. Just fun playing around with it
Experimenting with an old-school castle kind of vibe, complete with runescape-esque music #godot #gamedev
Finally updated the Steam page to make use of the latest features from Valve.

I spent so long on those old gifs and they still looked super crusty but now you can just upload mp4s which is really nice

(I maybe should've done this before posting the trailer earlier but oh well lol) #gamedev

I always feel a little weird considering late 2020/early 2021 a highlight but I think it's for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned. I was still in university but with some pretty light semesters so I got to spend a lot of time on gamedev and music. Good times
This is the kind of thing I'll probably notice more than anyone lol, but I think it's a pretty significant improvement still.

Also lets me speed things up slightly as I don't have to spend as much time crossfading
Finally made the transitions pixel perfect!
This was an issue from day one...

I'm now effectively rendering the frame's quad a second time on top which lets me bypass all lighting + post processing for that specific quad. Works exactly as I wanted it to!

It was only a matter of time before I added VHS tapes #godot #gamedev
I actually did pick up one of the cheaper Ibanez 7-strings! I've just divided my time between too many projects at the moment to git gud lol
Thanks! Hoping to play for real some day but for now Shreddage + Archetype Petrucci is enough for my needs haha
Felt inspired to write something cartoonishly evil sounding this morning. Will probably sneak this into the game somewhere...
Super barebones shader but it's easy to make designs for which is nice.
Working on some spookier environments now that it's September which is almost October 🎃 #godot #gamedev
