On my way to see for the first time ever a live #chess event in my life and it is #TataSteelChess
Round 7!

Hyped is understatement.

And that’s it. Magnus Carlsen wins #ClutchChess with two games to spare.

There’s still something to be played for as a win is the equivalent of 3k$ but Magnus dominates against WCC, No. 2 and 5-time US Champ.

And yes, I made a photo of TV cause I’m lazy. Reflected lamp gives it something extra ❤️

Gukesh v Magnus during #ClutchChess at STLCC

1 draw, 5 losses, No wins in 10+5 format.

On one hand - easy money and great fun. On the other hand - going from ETCC in Georgia directly to Saint Louis for a 4 day event to go back to Goa to start World Cup in 3 days.

Intense, but not too much?

One game left for Gukesh to turn around a rough day during #ClutchChess

Fabiano on the other hand looking currently at 8/10 points with a possibility of going 10/12.

The best part? Wins tomorrow count for 3 points. Great format.
October 28, 2025 at 8:06 PM
Ok. So we have the first day of #ClutchChess behind us and Gukesh leads after losing the first game on time against Magnus.

Of course - the innovative format makes the first day achievements less relevant during the tournament but World Champ is definitely in form.

Let’s see if he keeps it going.

Hans Niemann wins 18-6 against Ding Liren in RO16 of #SpeedChessChampionship, and will face Denis Lazavik in QF.

I believe it is fair to say that it was the expected result, however, let use this opportunity to once again reiterate:

Mental Health is important. Take care of it.
October 27, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Just tuned into #SpeedChessChampionship RO16 where Hans is playing ex World Champ - Ding Liren.
And I have to say... I am missing good old Ding Liren.

We have this skewed view of him post WCC, but man... this guy was a real beast.

Curious if he bites back after going 0:2 to start 5+1.

I am not surprised that people complained about F1 being often boring.

Only now I’ve noticed how much good broadcast means. And it is my 4th full season of watching.

I thought that they were driving slow. And you simply preferred showing celebrities instead of overtakes.

I never understood the argument of:
„X did something objectively wrong.”
„Oh, but now people are doing this to X.”

So what? Just because Kramnik receives death threats now we should drop the FIDE investigation?

No. We should punish and report the ones that sent those threats.

With Kramnik.

I am watching Rd 10 of US Chess Championship and I had a small reflection.

Danya was our generation's Yasser.
The one with anecdotes, humor, approachable and kind.
I really hope that someone will step into that role.

I see people starting to complain about GM Anand not being more proactive. Being 3rd in the hierarchy is not 1st. He did a lot of good work while not stepping on anyone's toes.
Now, however, it is crucial to see how he reacts.
If someone would consider going for FIDE President - it is now.

More and more outlets are reporting on the matter.
Dvorkovych's statement feels like Sophie's Choice.
Should he sacrifice his friend Sutov or his friend Kramnik.

Sorry, Vlad.

The World Chess Federation says it will investigate whether Russian chess champ Vladimir Kramnik should be disciplined for the disparaging public statements he made "before and after the tragic death" of American grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky.

During Round 9 of US Chess Championship GM Dariusz Swiercz drew with GM Grigoriy Oparin with White.

Against 1..c5 he chose Alapin Sicilian as tribute to GM Daniel Naroditsky who played 2. c3 often and successfully.

He played it also against Swiercz in 2020 during USCC Online Quali.

Sutovsky's comment are disgusting. Just... appalling.

We need to be proactive and don't let the case die out. Keep the momentum going.
Write to your local Chess club to start the initiative and spread the news.

Chess deserves better.

Naroditsky's last Speedrun video was titled:

Finished on a pun, didn't he?

Well, it is not much, but maybe someone will use it.

I’ve sent email to FIDE office reporting violation of Ethics Code by Kramnik, article 11.7 (f)

Raising awareness is necessary. It may not be much but chess world cannot be indifferent.

I can’t process it. I was so happy seeing Danya post new chess video 2 days ago and now this?

He was one of the reasons that chess boom had good retention numbers. His commentary insightful and fun.

May the business lounge serve you well at St. Peter’s gate. You’ll be missed.

After the Grand Swiss I did not even look at #chess in any serious way and I cannot stress enough how important rest is for your growth.

New knowledge needs time to settle! Take breaks!
Now and then simply get bored and do something else - or nothing. Your brain will appreciate it.
