🔴Sudan is the world's worst forgotten crisis.

By working closely with our local partners, Trócaire is responding on the ground to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and provide essential healthcare services, as well as longer-term resilience building, initiatives for a better future.

"However, Ireland has yet to meet its international commitment of 0.7% of GNI on overseas aid. Now more than ever, it is essential that the government create a meaningful action plan towards achieving this.”

Drastic budget cuts across the world, in a move towards militarism and disregard for international human rights and humanitarian law are having a profoundly negative impact on communities. Ireland’s leadership, global solidarity and protection of overseas aid have never been more important.

Siobhán Curran, Trócaire’s Head of Policy & Advocacy, said “Ireland’s commitment to overseas development aid makes a critical difference to families, communities and civil society who are facing poverty, displacement, and human rights abuses."

Trócaire acknowledges the Government’s commitment to overseas aid announced in today’s budget.

Aid is a lifeline for millions, however, next years planned increase while welcome, falls short of what is required to tackle escalating needs in such an unstable global context.
