An unplanned shot south of Chesterfield as Class 20s 20214 and 20210 haul a failed DMU with a Nottingham-Sheffield service on August 2nd 1990. Notes suggest that the DMU had failed after leaving Nottingham and the Class 20s were called to assist
October 16 1990 and rail blue-liveried Class 47 47222 named 'Appleby-Frodingham' has charge of a train of tank wagons at Melton Ross. It was named in June 1982, the nameplate also featuring the British Steel logo. The name was removed six months later in April 1991
BR Class 122 'Bubble Car' 55001 was new in May 1958 but just 11 years later was transferred to the departmental fleet as a route learner. Carrying nose-end number 01 and asset number 975023 it was pictured at Melton Mowbray in early April 1990. Now preserved at East Lancs Railway
April 4 1989 and the short-lived Network NorthWest brand was launched for regional train services in the North West. Class 150/2 Sprinter 150201 was unveiled in the new identity,byf BBC presenter Stuart Hall, at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry before taking guests to Adlington.
On March 20 1990 Class 47/4 47568 was named 'Royal Engineers Postal & Courier Service' at MOD Long Marston. Guests travelled to the event from London Paddington on a special train hauled by 47549 'Royal Mail'. Both '47s' hauled the return special to London
After weeks of spasmodic and delayed mail deliveries in PE2 postcode area (Peterborough). Royal Mail admits "Due to resourcing issues [at Orton Southgate Delivery Office] there is likely to be some disruption The office is working hard to ensure all mail is delivered ASAP with available staff"
The shoot with Delaine Buses & the Delaine Heritage Trust involved the five oldest low floor double decks. Volvo B7TL/East Lancs Vykings 130 (X7 OCT), 135 (Y8 OCT), 136 (AD03 OCT), 139 (AD04 OCT) & 140 (AD05 OCT). 130 in in the heritage fleet. 135 will soon be spare 136/39/40 used on school services
Enviro300 27615 which has been on loan to Stagecoach Cumbria at Morecambe is finally being transferred to the Merseyside fleet, where it was planned to go when released from the North East. It is being swapped with Enviro200 36173 which Merseyside received from Midlands but have not used
Trident was out with his friends at Delaine Buses and the Delaine Heritage Trust this morning for a rather special photoshoot. He is now busy editing the photos and says he will post a selection later this week. In the meantime he says here is a 'teaser' image........

An extremely busy scene near Lichfield Trent Valley Low Level on March 31 1991 as recovery, clean up and repair work is continuing following the derailment of a Garston-Felixstowe Freightliner service on March 28th.
On March 30 1991 the 1Z45 'Rat Requiem' rail tour ran with Class 91 91006 from London King's Cross to Leeds where Class 25 D7672 'Tamworth Castle' (25322, 25912) took over for the return run to Holyhead which we captured with sea mist hanging in the air on the North Wales Coast
March 1991 and the Nuneaton avoiding line which allowed trains from the Leicester direction heading to Abbey Junction, and on to the Birmingham line, to avoid the need to run through Nuneaton station was still in use. Class 60 60019 'Wild Boar Fell' is pictured heading East.
Transfers at Stagecoach East to Fenstanton for service 5/5A non-Busway services are Enviro200 36934 from Peterborough and Enviro300 27642 from Cambridge. Both were in the Strategic Reserve Fleet
It was always a nervous wait pre-digital for films to be developed. There was extra pressure for this shot which was the first time I had used 3200asa film. On last day of loco-hauled TransPennine services, Class 47 47443 makes the York call with the 1M48 1819 Newcastle-Liverpool on 20/01/1991
To release additional Busway-equipped vehicles with Stagecoach East at Fenstanton it is expected that service 5 will be operated from Monday with standard vehicles, transferred from other depots. The plans will certainly be demanding on the fleet.
It looks like Stagecoach will be boosting the Busway fleet with the temporary transfer of a Scania/Enviro400 to Fenstanton depot from Bedford. Looks like it could be 15200 that is transferred
The speed limit on the Cambridge Busway is being reduced to 30mph (20mph at crossing points) from next Monday (6th October) pending installation of fencing and barriers. Stagecoach has warned of 'significant' disruption and delays. Whippet is revising the timetable for the T1
A bonus yesterday while working in Lincoln was the appearance of the @rafredarrows in 9-formation flying over the city - and they even put on the red, white and blue smoke.

On March 28th 1991 ScotRail 'launched' Class 303 EMU after its makeover in Glasgow Blue Train livery. The unit broke cover at Springburn and was then taken to Bowling, the location of where original Cuneo Glasgow Blue Train image.
In early 1991 Tyseley depot decided to smarten up Class 117 DMU T305 (51410+59520+51368) which retained its GWR chocolate and cream livery. The repainted unit breaks cover allow photos to be taken including with some of the depot team involved in the repaint of the unit.
