Like it has been a REALLY long time since I last worked with the blob method... but... I believe my skills have improved since last time I did it, so just for fun, here is how the process started, maybe it can be of help for any aspiring pixel artist 😊
oh these look SO good!
Obv a more complex background, and in a cooler looking mech pilot bay. Also ignore the sketch colors xP
I drew a visual assist to explain myself better. Hopefully.. I am thinking that the holographic display would say something like
> NO PILOT SUIT DETECTED
> ATTEMPTING MANUAL PILOT CONNECTION
> INTERFACE SUCCESSFUL
meanwhile the "manual connection" arms are kinda goin to town
I am also exhausted and burnt out soooo that's probably on me actually 😩
Would be fun to have a marked place for her on the ground where she's supposed to stand to control the mecha, footprint marks and everything, but she's kneeling or sitting or some other very NOT standing position, despite the status monitor showing a generic standing pilot and giving the all clear.
Manual connection is possible because something something bio organics, but it's VERY new to her. I'm thinking some status lights saying the connection to the pilot is good to go, meanwhile she is visibly overstimulated. Very "plugged in", lots of control arms grabbing/gripping/entering as needed.
I like the tentacles/hands kinda connecting with the pilot in an unexpectedly invasive way. Maybe the pilot's super specialized tech suit she usually wears to connect to and interface with the "control arms" was destroyed out in the field, or she forgot it, so now she has to connect "manually"
I have a solution for you: do another 90s anime style mecha like piece 👀
pixel art rotation, my un-beloved
I meant mostly as a size reference, not necessarily as a duplicate body part reference. But I understand 🙏
You could keep the original one as a transparent layer on top of this one at all times while getting the shape right, maybe. Or maybe use the first one to draw some basic shapes on then bring those over to reference and modify their rough size and shape for the new thing.
Thank you!!! I am really proud of the nametag too haha
Thank you so much! It was fun to add silly details to this. I love Yukari's whole deal 😍
I got super inspired and made some #pixelart fanart of @multilewds.bsky.social 's Yukari. I was drawing just that portrait at the bottom but I got a little carried away ^^;
I think you got it!
She looks so gooooood
You got this 🙏
5 hours well spent
I've always loved this style! Excited to see more!
