The biggest thing that adds cost and time is customers that don't know what they want or fail to communicate.

I often click "Show me less of this" on political posts, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

It actually took me several years to get on Facebook. The first 2 times I was banned after 1 day for "Violating community standards", despite not doing anything.

It is Thanksgiving here in Canada and I would offer some advice to my fellow creators.

Take a break. Even if you can work 18 hours a day, don't. Working too much will hinder the creative process and lead to subpar products, because you are tired.

The 4 pillars of tabletop gaming (Board Games, RPGs, TCGs, War Games) have some crossover, but it always amazes me how many people pick one and refuse to engage with the others.

The best way to help indie developers is to talk about their stuff.
Marketing is a full time job and even then we are at the mercy of the algorithm.
Word of mouth has a huge impact.

With Canada Post going back to work on Tuesday it is going to be tight for my prototype components to get here in time.

It's mainly the getting up in the dark thing that messes with me.

I have seen clocks that slowly turn the lights on. Maybe that would help, but then again there is the jarring part of walking outside into darkness.

Had to get some games sent to Europe in time for Essen Spiel and Lucca Comics and Games.

Due to the Canada Post strike I can't ship that way and it was actually cheaper to have new games printed in Germany and the UK that it was to ship by courier. 😒

Added tip: Learn to adapt to a small space. Combat is the biggest time sink, which can be removed in a small space.

I recommend everyone watch Rope by Alfred Hitchcock, to understand what can be done with only 2 rooms.

You are not undercutting any of us. It's the handful of big companies doing that.
If anything, the hobbyists are are helping cast a wide net and promoting a more diverse gaming culture and bringing new ideas that the more profit motivated companies won't touch.

This the difference between hobbyists and professionals. We all start as hobbyists, but some of us reach for the stars, only to realize that the stars are out of reach.

My goal is to do this as a career, which unfortunately is a monumental task.

The reviews are especially helpful, because it shows that people are actually playing our games.
