And now for our Issue 98 COVER 🎉 🎉 🎉

Wound, by Zi Xu
The cover for Fantasy Issue 98! A brown-haired, light-skinned figure kneels next to a giant white bird, tending to an arrow wound. The cover is awash in autumnal shades of orange, cream, and brown.

Psst. Our JUNE ISSUE is out and we'd love for you to check out the awesome work from our contributors — including this amazing cover art by Jasper Glen: buff.ly/t7X4ey3
Abstract painting. Jewel-toned waves of color—black, blue, red, green, and white—band and blend together in streaks against an orange background. The effect is like a jagged puddle made of melting agates.

Columbia grad student with a green card and a pregnant US citizen wife, abducted by ICE because of his political organizing, and now his lawyers can't find him.

Hey, @schumer.senate.gov. This is your constituent. Bring him back home.

UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is.
They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there.
They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

A jewel-toned collage: warm retro colors against an emerald background. A buttoned, blue maxi skirt in the center “opens” near the top, with a black triangle thrusting out. Small flowers and snippets of large, black-and-white texts form accents.

A vivid, abstract art piece. Bright orange pigment forms a rectangular block with fluid edges. Black pigment melts into the top edge. The block is gashed by strokes of pink which are—in turn—slashed with smaller, linear strokes of black.

Reading 2024 fiction? Try the short story "The Midnight Spa" by Sunwoo Jeong! You can read it here! @translunarytree.bsky.social www.uncannymagazine.com/article/the-...
The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 59, “Lunacy Act 1” by Broci: A woman with wearing a red dress with tattered ends, and white collar stands on the right side. Her hands are held out, disconnected from her arms as a moon lies beneath them. Around her there is a forest in shades of brown, grey and green; one of the trees has a charm attached to it. Her brown-blond hair is held upwards as if the wind were running through it. Nearby there are several butterflies that glow a light green, and the quote says, "People have no idea how much of themselves they can slough off.

Treat yourself and go read this amazing story in @uncannymagazine.bsky.social. Rae and I saw an early draft of it when we taught at Clarion. I loved it then and I love it even more now.
