Our position is worse. The Weimar Rep. resulted from WWI defeat, created for a society with almost no democratic history, open warfare in the streets & deep economic crisis. The U.S. democracy, in comparison, is a far easier target for fascists precisely b/c our history & wealth make us complacent.

The threat isn’t Trump or MAGA it’s a Party and a SCOTUS controlled by men committed to authoritarianism. Trump’s senile buffoonery and cartoon villainy is useful to Miller, Vought, Theil, Vance, Alito, Johnson, et al. Trump is paving the way. He’ll take the blame & give them room when he dies.
