$Beneath a deep blue desert sky with streaky white clouds we are standing atop a cracked and fractured pinkish violet rock looking down several hundred feet into a landscape of narrow shallow canyons and rock formations below. There are striations of color throughout: chalky white, blue gray, pinkish violet, brown. A scattering of olive green shrubs are the only signs of life in an otherwise barren scene.$
