Kristi Noem is flat-out lying when she claims no U.S. citizen has been arrested in her violent crackdown. Do a web search on “immigration citizen arrested” and you’ll see. Here’s one of the many documented reports we found.

This is nowhere close to being true.

Two @ij.org clients are citizens who were arrested & @propublica.org found 168 more.

Plus, we have witness statements from others who--like most of the citizens caught up by Noem's tactics--didn't have their arrests recorded so they didn't make the news.

It's like our signs from "No Kings" -- "unpaid protestor," "I hate him for free." Anybody who'd join ICE doesn't need the $50K come-on. They'll put a knee on a man's neck from sheer love of the game.

This sounds right to me (and recalls the idea that fascism is, among other things, a cult of action over reflection, and killing/dying over coexistence)

She's acting uncertain of her authority, and I think that makes "reading while he listens in silence" exactly the wrong approach. I think she needs to read a provision, then ask him whether he understands what she's read, and when he says, "yes," ask him to explain it back to her.
