Sure there are always going to be people with bigoted views but if you keep letting the bigoted viewpoint people represent your party when do you realize your party represents bigoted views?

For me it's that he didn't immediately remove it or cover it up when he "found out" what it was. Fine he didn't know, let's give him grace, but as soon as he knew it needed to be removed or covered. I would think seeing a Nazi tattoo on your body everyday would disgust you. Unless well ...

Even if you go in with giving all the grace in the world, he was young, he was drunk, he didn't know what the tattoo was, at some point you have to say ...okay, he's now older, sober, and has been made aware. SO WHY DOES HE STILL HAVE THE TATTOO?? Coverups are a thing. Laser removal is a thing.

But I had written a ton of class assignments by then. Just hadn't realized I could write just to write before that. And that's the first short fiction, bad poetry started a couple years earlier. Hormones and poetry go hand in hand I think.

The first thing I wrote just for fun was in the 8th grade and was confiscated by a classmate's mother who told her I must have a sick mind for writing such a thing.

I mean she wasn't wrong, but I'm still pissed that she literally stole my story.
