It seems like there are a lot of Americans just learning about the modern history of South Africa. I’d recommend reading Country of my skull by Antjie Krog and Red Dust by Gillian Slovo - both of these helped me understand. I’m not South African, I’m Australian. It’s tough but necessary reading.

I’d gift it to an older Swiftie with a daughter or a niece that wasn’t able to afford tickets. Someone in the local area so they don’t have to pay for travel or accom. I can only imagine they would truly appreciate it.

Huge amounts in common: Loyal fans, friendship bracelets, singing, incredible artists & production. Differences: undercurrent of kindness at TS & undercurrent of anxiety at TOP in the crowd before the show.
