A little known about SQL feature... being able to "bring along extra columns" when you aggregate.
My first one, and shortly thereafter the C64 ofcourse... :-)
I noticed different people use the terms "inner" and "outer" table/rowsource differently for NL-joins. Never liked the terms myself: I always use 1st table/rowsource and 2nd table/rowsource when discussing NL-joins. And for HASH-joins: build and probe.
Strange pic for connection leaks...
I like the pic though :-)
Be sure to keep on the lookout for #SQLAssertions
Another fine what-todo-when-retired example...
Yeah,....
Be patient, please.
The worries during retirement....
😜
I read "statistics" as "patterns".
If there's dominant query-pattern now that joins data of T1+T2, then having T1+T2 data denormalized into 1 table, helps that pattern. But in-time this pattern may become irrelevant, and other patterns become dominant.
Fully normalized = neutral wrt query patterns.
1965 was an extraordinary year... ;-)
Been working on #10 a lot the past 2-3 years...
The same will happen with Google.
My kids don't use it anymore.

Oracle Database Free 23.8 is now available

Get it at

www.oracle.com/database/fre...

This has a neat tweak if you're getting poor row estimates for PL/SQL in SQL:

Enhanced dynamic stats for PL/SQL in FROM & WHERE

This can be particularly useful for estimating pipelined table functions
ICT: one of the few industries where we do not learn from history...
It'll be my 1st one. I'm very late to the party. But in the end, it was inevitable... #POUG2025
Omg... Looks like I'm going to Poland :-)
