Cycling down to the sea. Although you can't see them, there are marvellous views left and right. On the horizon, the white cliffs of the Isle of Wight.
#landscape #photography #purbeck #dorset #seascape 📷
Two cyclists on the path down to the sea. Sunlight illuminates an area across their path. Across the sea can be seen the white cliffs of the Isle of Wight. The sea is calm and the sky is a little overcast.

Reputedly, London's oldest row of terraced houses is at Newington Green. Built in 1658, they have been much altered over the years. The ground floor frontages were replaced in 1994. #architecture #london
Looking across the road to nos 52-56 Newington Green on a sunny day. In front is a zebra crossing with Belisha beacons.

It is amazing how they thread these tunnels together. I was a bit confused at first, because the northbound bank branch is actually going west-southwest at this point.

#OnThisDay 58 years ago the new northbound Bank Branch Northern Line platform opened at Euston. This allowed the original northbound side of the 1907 island platform to be in-filled giving rise to today's wide southbound platform. Poster: @ltmuseum buff.ly/yY5xyIi
Poster where the top half is a 3-D diagram of the complex of 3 Tube lines, concourse and passageways at Euston and the bottom half is a lengthy description of the improvements.

Fascinating and comprehensive and including a few surprises.

The windmill at Keston in Bromley is the oldest in London, one of two of London’s windmills in private gardens. Did you know there are also five other windmills in London? Discover them all here in my new video about the history of London’s windmills youtu.be/qMY9BDP_T8o

Yes. Absolutely no one comes out of this with flying colours. It's a great pity that the Porte supported Germany in the first world war.

The US has never been even handed regarding Israel and Palestine. That's one of the reasons for the current situation.

Photo of the still water of a canal, brightly lit in autumn sunshine, and showing reflections of the multi-coloured trees on the opposite bank.

Thank you Mark. Just noticed your comment. Hoping for some sunshine tomorrow. 🌞 Enjoy your day.

Thank you Patricia, it is indeed a peaceful place, yet so close to the bustle of Stoke Newington Church Street.

St James's Royal Park in London is probably the only place where you will find pelicans promenading together with people. For now, a heron diving for fish creating many #droplets with his #wings

A heron sat studiously on the bank of a water garden in Hyde Park. Gradually, he leaned forward and dived into the water. This image was captured at the moment of impact. The extensive water spray created, showered over the heron.

Ready for a walk, anyone? Abney Park Cemetery is a great place to stroll and relax, and unlike Highgate, this place is free.
#photography #landscape #recreation #cemetery 📷
Abney Park Cemetery is one of London's original Magnificent Seven. It was also originally laid out as an arboretum, with 2,500 varieties of plants. It was a cemetery for anyone, and today, although not in use as a cemetery, it is open to all for recreation. Here is one of the main paths. A couple with a dog stop to look at a gravestone, while the foreground is lit by reflections in a large puddle.

#OnThisDay 141 years ago the Met Railway's short-lived terminus 'Tower of London' closed, replaced by Mark Lane next door... oddly both were open together for a week. 83 years later roles reversed; the original station reopened as Tower Hill, seen here in 1979 (John Atkinson)
The rear of an R38 Stock is seen standing in the central 'bay' platform 2 at Tower Hill, waiting to depart west to Wimbledon

Totally agree with you. The details are all buried in the overly long article, but the headline suggestion that Turing is called the father of computing because of his work on enigma is, of course, totally false.

Last one from me.

My lens directed as these two souls of sky and shore entwined,
and in this moment, pure, aligned.

A white gull with wings spread wide flies gracefully beside a tall grey heron standing on bright green grass near the edge of a pond. Behind them, the water glows with golden reflections of autumn foliage, creating a warm, tranquil backdrop of reeds and shimmering colour.

A pleasing, composition, Mike.
I swapped my Pixel 5 for a Pixel 10 yesterday and am looking forward to trying out the camera.
I must look into Snapseed, which I hadn't heard of. I wonder whether you use it on your computer or phone?

Thanks Mark. You too. Sounds like you had an exciting time! 😀

If I understand the clip correctly, Yusuf claims that immigrants are using up limited infrastructure whereas Polanski is saying that the lack of infrastructure is due to austerity.
