Wow! It's good that AI is going to unlock massive productivity gains and unleash the fourth industrial revolution, or else we'd really be in trouble.

AI bubble now 17 times bigger than dot-com boom and four times larger than subprime crisis, per MW

"I'll take accountability if this technology the main purpose of which is to outsource accountability fails to do the magic things I'm promising it can"

Tech secretary Peter Kyle tells PolHome:

- he'll front it up if AI makes errors in the public sector
- data on British people will never be sold abroad
- new data centres pose a "huge" energy challenge
- he uses "fantastically good" ChatGPT in his Cabinet role

Do these people not realise that social media only actually works if users have reason to believe it's, you know, real.

"Yeah the wedding was alright, best man was a bit weird though. Went into a sort of reverie after eating a bit of the pudding. Ended up giving this speech... wasn't really about the groom to be honest. Mostly about some dresses he remembered seeing age 10. Lasted five hours."

@emilyherring.bsky.social incredible that Proust was the best man at Bergson's wedding! My jaw dropped.

If Starmer wants to 'go for growth', he needs to build on the success of ABBA Voyage to make the UK the world's number one destination for holographic shows of old musical acts
jim.londoncentric.media
Can someone correct me if I'm being innumerate here but is this story suggesting that 1/1600th of the entire UK economy is ABBA Voyage-related? (And I'll be honest given the state of the economy, maybe it is!)

ABBA Voyage is proving to be more than just a show—it's an economic powerhouse, bringing millions to Stratford and boosting jobs. A shining example of how our support for culture and creativity drives growth across London.

5 year-old: I'm almost a teacher.

"Really?"

5 year-old: Yeah... I already know almost all the things.

Yesterday Iggy did something that I can only describe as 'enacting America's foreign policy on his sister'. Making a big show of hiding the TV remote in the belief that she was going to put Bluey on instead of his show: a desire that she had displayed no evidence of, until he started to police it.

Possible new 'most American thing I've ever seen': a drop-down 'suffix' box on a form.

When are business schools going to learn? They shouldn't be trying to publish phony research. They should focus on what they're good at: providing phony degrees.

Been sleeping on the fact that next year I will reach the same age that the notoriously late developer GWF Hegel was when he published the Phenomenology of Spirit. Life almost over.

Truly incredible how effective 'modelling' behaviour to your kids can be. Last night older one absolutely furious at his younger sister due to disagreement over the TV. At his age I'd have immediately walloped my younger sibling, but all he could think to do was threaten her with a time out.

What I suppose I really want to see is Elon Musk just being constantly there following Donald Trump around for his whole presidency, locked together and increasingly resenting each other like Divney and the narrator in the early parts of The Third Policeman.

Listening to the excellent Blowback podcast atm and becoming obsessed with this guy. Constantly playing 3D chess with everyone including himself, resigning the throne in favour of his own father to boost his power... imagine being his political opponent en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norodom...

Feel like I exhausted that. I need to get mad at a different confectionery.

Big problem with switching to a new platform is that I had a fair amount of followers on twitter because I used to have a lot of thoughts I felt compelled to voice, whereas now, with age, my brain has become as smooth and stoical as a pebble.
