For more than four decades, the Tom of Finland Foundation has preserved and celebrated the world’s largest collection of Queer erotic art, showcasing the work of countless artists. During the early AIDS epidemic, many entrusted their life’s work to us, fearing it might be lost.

Scott O’Hara (1961–1998), an American porn performer, author, poet, editor, and publisher, viewed his 1981 HIV diagnosis as “an undeniable blessing,” even admiring those who “consciously made the decision to seroconvert.” In 1994, he tattooed “HIV+” on his bicep for visibility.

Victor Arimondi (1942–2001), a photographer and model, captured Queer beauty with unflinching honesty. Moving to the U.S.A. in the late 1970s, his early work documented the pre-AIDS culture of the 1970s and early '80s.

Tom made safer sex desirable. During the AIDS crisis, he added condoms to his art to shift culture. Tom of Finland Foundation continues this legacy: sex-positive, artist-forward, and pro-health.
