Today is the birthday of artist Matt Baker (Dec. 10, 1921 - Aug. 11, 1959). Active in the Golden Age, he is most remembered for his amazing covers & beautiful women. Sadly, he died of a heart attack at the young age of 37.

Born on this day in 1894, cartoonist E.C. Segar introduced Popeye to the world in 1929 in his comic strip 'Thimble Theatre.' You can catch some of Segar's original work now along with other OG faces of the newspaper comics section in our exhibition 'Sunday Funnies.' #Popeye #cartoonist #art
