These federal cuts are simply wrong, and they will hurt Oregon families. I strongly oppose these changes. Our top priority now is making sure every impacted Oregonian knows what’s changing and where to turn for help.

Oregon is 3rd in SNAP recipients, but 21st below poverty level and 26th for children below poverty level. So why 3rd? We prioritized addressing food insecurity 20 years ago.

My office is reaching out to the White House and Homeland Security for more information. We have been provided no information on the reason or purpose of any military mission. There is no national security threat in Portland. Our communities are safe and calm.
