What a beautiful way to end this rainy week. I've been feeling pretty down with all this rain and cloudy skies lately because I've been looking forward to photographing comets, but this sudden burst of color made me happy.

Asymmetry Revisited

Last year we experienced one of the greatest comet encounters since Neowise in 2020: Comet c2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS

My first photo of #comet #lemmon in the early morning hours last Friday. I was hopped up on caffeine the prior night so I was willing to go out at 430am to photograph the comet. This is a 5 minute exposure. #apod #astrophotography #astro #astrophoto #space #astronomy #nightsky
Last night I was hoping to get a photo of #Comet #Lemmon over Lake Champlain but ended up photographing the #Aurora. The sky was fairly overcast when I got there, but after an hour of waiting and taking photos the sky cleared up briefly. #apod #northernlights #vermont #astro #astrophotography
Thank you for sharing!
My heart is full of crisp autumn vibes right now. This is a nice little hidden gem in Vermont.

They say that the stars tell us the time of month, but they also guide us through the season. After three years I returned to Huntington Gorge to photograph this scene again. #apod #astrophotography #astrophoto #astronomy #space #milkyway #longexposurephotography #astro #photography
It's taking me a while to get used to this odd composite perspective as well, especially when I first saw it a couple years ago. After I did this composite, I did think about how it would have been nice to get some light from the window at night! I may try that in the future.
My second attempt at combining a drone photo with a Milky Way photo I took on Saturday. While some may find sky replacement cheating, I think it's creatively acceptable if you are the photographer and both are taken the same day. #apod #milkyway #astrophotogaphy #astrophoto #astronomy #photography
I was hoping to blend the Southern Delta Aquariids meteor shower over Foster Bridge, but no meteors. I still greatly enjoy this composition. #apod #milkyway #astrophotography #astrophotographer #space #landscapephotography #nightscape #vermont #vt #nightphotography
UNDER FIRE AND ICE

Last night's hazy night skies made a nice composition over some wildflowers. It was hazy just enough for the Milky Way to shine through. I'll share another with a more prominent Milky Way later. #apod #milkyway #astrophoto #nightsky #astrophotographer #vt #space #astronomy
I was quite fortunate Tuesday night to capture the Aurora over the Old Red Mill in Jericho. It was a short experience but an everlasting memory. #aurora #apod #northernlights #vermont #astrophotography #astro #auroraborealis #astrophoto #space #newengland #vt
When stars die, their essence reaches out into the infinity of the universe and creates the building blocks of new life. You are the star dust from long ago!
Last Friday night a friend invited me along to photograph the Milky Way at Tinker Farm. This was my first time there and it was such a fun experience. #apod #astrophotography #astophoto #milkyway #space #astronomy #vermont #nightscape
You're also part of this whole universe! Maybe when aliens are looking up at the night sky, they also see our solar system and you become part of their universe.

Fireflies and the Aurora Borealis over Smuggler's Notch earlier this week. While I knew this faced north, I was uncertain if the Aurora would be visible over the peaks #apod #aurora #auroraborealis #northernlights #astophotography #vermont #newengland #astrophoto #nightsky #space #astronomy
Thank you very much!
We finally got clear night skies in New England and I was able to find a lupine field with the help of some friends.

I wanted to share a timelapse panorama of the Milky Way and Aurora from June 3rd, but my laptop is struggling to render 800+ photos. So I'm dialing back temporarily with a single panorama. Here's to another trip around the sun. #apod #astrophotography #astrophoto #astronomy #milkyway #vermont
A very early birthday surprise late Monday night: the #milkyway pouring into the #northernlights appearing over Foster Bridge in Cabot, VT. #apod #astrophotography #astrophoto #milkywayphotography #vermont #stars #aurora #auroraborealis

On Monday night, we had a very rare clear night sky. This was my third stop of the night/early morning and I was curious if I could get a Milky Way here. My second stop was a complete failure, but I'll share the first photo of the night later.

Early Saturday morning I got an alert that an IMF would reach Earth around 1:30am. I had a lot of trouble sleeping, so I figured I'd give it a shot. #aurora #northernlights #auroraborealis #astrophotography #apod #astronomy #witns #vermont #newengland
