Probably meant "second foreign" because english absolutely is the first.
The problem is that games aren't just _some_ graphics. The problem is that often games are the bleeding egde of graphics, which are often only availiable on DX12
Again, as I outlined is some other comment, the problem is that often times when making such choices _there is no other option_.

DX12 gets all the cool features first and Vulkan copies them years later.
I think DX12 got ray tracing support like 3 years before Vulkan?

Due to the magic of 💫Microsoft💫 money DX12 pretty much got bankrolled into being the primary API for games wanting to use the latest tech.
Not really. The fact is there is no alternative, especially for large studios.

Vulkan was supposed to be the cool kid on the block but over the last couple of years it seems to have gone down the same path as OpenGL.
The issue is that you're looking at this from the perspective of a Linux fan. The people making the decision on where to focus the developers' time give 0 shits about whether Linux marketshare goes up or down.

What matters is the cost to benefit ratio and often it's larger than what they can accept
Hell, I've had several games run better over wine than Windows native.

Yakuza 0 was borderline unplayable on Win11 due to frequent stutters, but after trying it out in Linux it was flawless.
That's why running through Proton often improves performance. The guys at wine have been working at this for decades and their translation is so fast, that even with the added overhead it's often faster than a poorly optimised native port.
Due to the fact the Linux has such low marketshare, there's seldom a will to make a Linux port, let alone a good one.
Nope. It's just that from the perspecive of an engine dev Linux support really isn't a switch you can just "turn on".

Since most games target Windows, the engines often use a bunch of Windows APIs like DX12, none of which are easily transferrable to Linux without A LOT of work.
Uhh yep. Some engines have really poor linux support to the point where it's actually faster to translate the Windows executable than using the native version.

I can't give a list of examples off the top of my head, but iirc csgo/cs2 and Civ6 ran really poorly until i forced proton.
To be fair, half of the native games I've played got better performance when running with proton...
Launched Windows for the first time in a week and it took 20s to draw the wallpaper.

Just wow.
Oh sorry, I misread. I thought it was about the glasses reading gestures without the band a la Vision Pro.
yipeee more cameras 🥰🥰🥰
Incredibly proud to have found my first weather-based bug.

The app in question suffers from 10x higher idle GPU usage when it's raining outside 😭😭
yummy 3148 package update from fedora rn
uhh making an android app. so compose
Who could have thought that designing UIs is pretty fun when you don't use html for it.
What the fuck is a "Wonk" axis?
I know that most normal people are pretty glad about the cs2 market collapse (I mean yeah, it's incredibly stupid that such a market even exists), but on the other hand this has caused a global suicide wave.

So that's a bummer.
Oh, and a psychotic one too
Last time I played a "cosy game" by the end I had to role-play as a cancer patient going through chemo to make that shit bearable.

I've lately been obsessed with this app called StreetComplete. It gamifies contributing to OpenStreetMaps in by giving you you quests to do while you walk around. A fun way to get some steps in, to make you look closer at your environment and to do a good thing!
