This is such a cool illustration of how the Mercator map distorts the size of Greenland, which looks as big as the whole continent of Africa on that map but is actually the size of Mexico.

Why do Greek people always sleep until after sunrise?

Because dawn is tough on Greece.

Using a combination of glitches in Super Mario World, Yoshi can be taken into the final battle, where he can eat Peach upon Bowser's defeat. With Peach gone, the ending will not play, and Mario and Yoshi will simply stare at each other forever.

I didn’t realize until I looked at this a few times that the camera was caught in the air. What a shot.
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Anyone have experience transferring a domain with #Fastmail email to #Cloudflare?

The domain is registered with Hover and uses Fastmail's name servers.

If I transfer the domain to Cloudflare, I am required to use their name servers.

A while ago, someone on here (maybe @lindaholmes.bsky.social ?) recommended @potipoti.studio‘s game, “Is This Seat Taken.”

I received an Apple gift card for Christmas, so I decided to purchase the game for iOS / iPadOS / macOS. I’ve only been playing for an hour or so, but I’m really enjoying it!

First book of the year and I wouldn’t be surprised if Justin Cronin’s “The Ferryman” is my favorite book of 2026. It was so incredibly good. #BookSky
#AmReading “The Ferryman,” by Justin Cronin.

Recommended to me by my sister, who read this book late last year, so I moved it up my reading list.

This is a “breaking” of my 2026 goal to read books I own, but what are you going to do. 🤷‍♂️

When you're playing Bongo on @puzzmo.com and you think to yourself, "this HAS to be one of the purple words," but it's not.

Then, when you finish, you discover the puzzle creator spelled the word incorrectly. The area of a church is altar, not alter. 🤦‍♂️

AI slop strikes again!

“AI-generated posts flooded social media, showing fireworks over the Brooklyn Bridge… claimed the fireworks would be part of the… festivities… thousands of people showed up along the Brooklyn waterfront to see the display for themselves.”

"April Fools in December": Hundreds of people waited at the Brooklyn Bridge for fireworks that never came, all because of AI slop
"Actually quite scary that this many people don't fact check what they see on here."

There‘s something about young Gen X-ers (Xennials, really) experiencing things like Calvin and Hobbes, Muppets, Sesame Street, old school Walt Disney World, etc. that tells you a lot about our generation. It’s hard to describe, but these experiences were core to my and so many of my peers’ lives.
No comic strip ever meant more to me than Calvin and Hobbes. I distinctly remember cutting this final strip out of our newspaper and keeping it for years on a cork board.
On December 31, 1995, Bill Watterson published the final 'Calvin & Hobbes' comic strip. #CalvinandHobbes
