Probably underreported that Shawn Fain, the UAW president, is aiming to organize essentially a general strike for May, 2028, and is also looking at (and polling) a Rustbelt new political party.

If politicians don't think they can lose an election, then they aren't accountable. None of our elections are competitive in Ohio.

To make politicians care about the voters, we have to make sure they can lose. Independents can win. That's why we're running.

...And replace it with a Land Value Tax! Efficient, encourages new development, and shifts the tax burden from homeowners who take care of their houses to owners of vacant lots and blighted buildings

At this point, I do genuinely think Trump has done more to earn a Nobel Peace Prize than Obama did. Of course Trump has a lot of negatives in the ol peace column and neither are/were particularly deserving.

Ohio spent too long as the kingmaker, as the bellwether, and got nothing to show for it! Iowa just had its presidential caucus and it got all the corn subsidies. Where is Ohio's taste? I say it's time we took matters into our own hands. Nothing passes without our say-so!

Here's the strategy: Ohio elects 15 House members. Let's elect 15 members of... let's call it the Ohio Party. In a closely divided House, these 15 Ohio Party reps control the majority balance. Whichever party cuts the best deal for Ohio, gets Ohio Party support.

In the weeds here, politically, but relevant to the shutdown. The premise of the Fulcrum strategy among centrist politicos is "what if we hold a gun to the two parties and whoever submits to our moderate agenda gets the Congressional majority".

My proposition: what if Ohio reps held the gun?

Ohio's age verification law for accessing websites that host "significant" amount of content "harmful to juveniles" came into effect today.

This law is badly and vaguely written. Will do nothing to protect juveniles, infringes the 1st amendment, and is a cybersecurity disaster.
