Based on an interaction Joi and I had at the Pickford last week.
I had a nice Thanksgiving, and I hope yours was equally awesome if not better.

These potatoes are gigantic as illustrated by my hand (anyone who knows me personally knows how big my truckasaurus rex hands are).

It's 930am on the West Coast, I'm waking up slowly, and it's time for Thanksgiving prep work.

Everyone: Don't talk politics during Thanksgiving dinner.

Leg room turns you into a trifold wallet, 2 hours at security checkpoint, multiple delays, insane food prices, no consumer protections anymore, and we're nickle and dimed to death but we're also told we need to be thankful and dress up nicely for air travel.

An excellent video that spoke to me as an exvangelical radicalized in the SBC in my youth.

My fundamental beliefs have not changed, just my worldview and how I use my beliefs to work towards social justice and change for all. @michaelburns.bsky.social

It's Thanksgiving week, so that means it's that time of the year I make my homemade cranberry sauce from The Elder Scrolls cookbook. I'm making a triple batch, with more than enough for Thanksgiving dinner and for some of you folks!

Also, get the book, seriously, it's really good!

Quick polling question for my peeps: Aside from Elf on the Shelf and Mariah Carey, what are some aggressively holiday products and music that either creep you out or drive you insane? Bonus points if you explain why.

This has nothing to do with an upcoming project I'm working on next year. ;)

When Rocket wants pets and you don't deliver within 3 seconds of her jumping on the bed, you get "the grumping."

Had a wonderful company holiday party last night at the Silver Reef, but I think Joi had more fun than I. :)

Joi wants kielbasa frittata, so she gets kielbasa frittata.

Happy spouse, happy house!

For my Doom Slayer cosplay, I had an idea to create a badass mobility device using the Crucible sword.

Instead of a PVC or wood dowel rod core, I use an aluminum hiking stick, layer it with HD foam, and use a pointed rubber stopper at the tip of the blade so I can use the prop as a functional cane?

Is there such a thing as a scalp masseuse?

Is it weird that head scritches legitimately and platonically help soothe my anxiety?

Now that Geekgirlcon is done for the year, it's time to prepare for next year's cosplay and it's my biggest challenge yet.

First step is to build that sword as an accessibility tool, a modified walking stick that can stand in end, while I also work on personal PT to improve my mobility.

As Joi and I venture home, and we pass by the docks of Puget Sound, I am reminded that today is the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Ring the bell 29 times for those lost.
