So @alaskaairlines.bsky.social wouldn't let me get on any of the three earlier Portland connections home because "you and your checked bag must stay together". So the irony that they left my bag in Seattle and now have to put it on a later flight is not lost on me.

Saw a kid on the airport terminal train totally decked out head to toe in Pokemon gear. Offered his mom one of my left over coins from Japan for him. Kid lit up he was so thrilled. 🪙

Last day in Japan was spent in a lovely hot spring town. It's early Sunday morning here, just before dawn. If all goes well I will be home Sunday night, about 31 hours from now!

48 hours in Japan so far, already 40k steps in, still jetlagged and everything hurts so taking a break for a couple hours. Have successfully navigated the Tokyo Metro solo and successfully bought things from people who speak no English without making a complete fool of myself. So far so good!
