Me and my little textile adventures. Predominately weaving but can’t forget the knitting, sewing, crochet and embroidery attempts.

Parental figure, witch, weaver, AuDHD and PTSD.
Day 16 of #artadventcalendar … yeah, uhm, welcome to my brain.

Day 15 of #artadventcalendar and have this very odd little drawing I did sometime in the past few years. I honestly can’t tell you what was aiming for but this is the type of random my brain does when it’s left to its own devices

Day 14 of #artadventcalendar from last night! It’s a beginners #embroidery sampler to practice basic stitches and the first embroidery I’ve ever done. I really enjoyed it and have a new one to start today.

Day 13 of #artadventcalendar and back to the weaving! These are more recent tea towels. I really should get my shit together and put them up for sale. 2024. Cotton. Handwoven on 4 shafts or a floor loom.

Another very old one for day 12 of #artadventcalendar This would be high school pre-2000 pen on paper. Not awful anatomy but gosh she’s skinny.

Day 11 of #artadventcalnedar This was my very first woven object. A small grey wool scarf made out of baby yarn. It’s very soft and warm. 2018. Rigid Heddle.

#ArtAdventCalendar #sashiko #embroidery The upper left is a traditional pattern, the rest are based on outlines of real leaves found in my neighborhood. All waiting to be incorporated into something else. Sashiko is very relaxing, especially if you do freestyle shapes. Day 9.

#artadventcalendar Day 9. I captured this special moment with a mother fox nursing two of her kits while on high alert this spring in southern Alberta.

I am exhausted but the small one is so happy and therefore it was so worth it.

Day 9 of #artadventcalendar is last years cute 4 shaft weaving sampler. I loved doing this. Should do some more.

Day 8 of #artadventcalendar soft pastels. I’m overdue to get back to making things in paper… meh. Early 2020s.

Day 7 of #artadventcalendar !
How about some pottery today? I love this little cup… the cat was created with layers of slip to build up the form. I’d like to try this technique again but with a slip made of the same clay as the cup, that should prevent the crack that happened during firing.

Sticking with me birds for Day 7 of #ArtAdventCalendar but they're taking on a different form...jewellery. With most of my illustrations at some point I will turn them into wearable art of some type, be it necklaces, earrings or the always popular pins!

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 7

My favorite guitar and favorite guitar strap from traditionally tanned hide, made by someone unknown with so much love. Behind is a wooden cupboard made by my husband.

Day 7 of #artadventcalendar. One of my favourite photos of my favourite comfy make. This green #crochet jumper has fallen apart but it was the snuggliest, warmest, fluffiest merino jumper to ever exist. Modelled by my little human who wants doing the best Kate Bush dance impression ever.

Day 6 of #artadventcalendar

I’m not much of a beader but I made this little leather and carnelian bead bracelet and wore it until it fell apart. I really should make a new one.

Day 5 of #artadventcalendar is probably a weird one to others but this little bundle of yarn was my first attempt at spinning on a drop spindle. Definitely falls into an art yarn category.

Day 4 of #ArtAdventCalendar this is from a couple years ago. I do these textile things more as a form of drumming than trying to make art but I like the way the colours interact
