🏠 Government can also help by not requiring new housing to solve every problem.

Impose enough demands on a building project, and the economics collapse.

Instead, Ottawa needs to focus on scale and speed.

The iceberg is rapidly approaching.

Not a surprise, Lepreau maintenance work has gone wrong and not back on the grid.

Expect another variance charge on your NBPower bills, or a jump in the current amount, for ongoing Lepreau nightmares.

Oh, it’s going to be hellish 🥶 …so yeah, there is that too.

Time to sell. #nbpoli

A small team in Ontario did just that by creating an AI voice agent to make the calls, collect the data and plot it onto a map. #AI #Healthcare

As a resident who pays attention to the details, I’m left with more questions than answers—especially with the government’s plan to create the NB Growth Office, announced in speeches to business groups but absent from the capital budget speech itself. #nbpoli open.substack.com/pub/jeffthom...

22 cents on the dollar sounds like a good deal —- except when you’re not responsible for the dollar.

Good for the recipient of the grant but terrible precedent for municipalities in New Brunswick.

Regionalization is so broken.

Did GNB consider all the available lands — like this one on Regent Street, next to the Forestry Centre?

Minister Hickey was asked at the ‘so-called’ community meeting last month and said it was UNB land.

Guess what?

It isn’t.

It’s been thinned — for some reason 🤷‍♂️ #Fredericton

🥶 Cold air is forecast to overtake the mild air in the Maritimes, sending temperatures down.

It’s that time of year but the wind chills will make it feel like -10 to -20 across the region, including cities like #Fredericton.

But -20 is more like January.

2) The debt service costs (interest) for the new playhouse — still under construction— is 30% of the $10-million budget for 2026. It is already more than the costs for pools and rinks we borrowed money for in the past.

It’s not the full amount of the debt liability folks. #Fredericton

It’s City of #Fredericton budget night. Before they get started, two things stood out in the budget book.

1) The near doubling of the residential property assessments since 2016. Some is related to annexation in 2024, but not all. +
