...So when the @royalsociety.org says "due to the high number of applications we are unable to provide feedback", it sits badly. What little down time we have sunk into an application and the funder cant even say if it was on the right track, feels like a kick in the teeth to young researchers. 3/3

...and then once that is all done, still have to find time to write grant applications to enable us to continue doing our job.
When the inevitable rejection letter arrives, the one piece of solace is that the feedback can help you improve your application and try again. 2/3
