For the attention of all our neighbours in Cumbria and Northumberland, the RAF Spadeadam range will be active outside our routine hours 26-27 February 2025.

Wednesday 26 February - up to 2330 hrs
Thursday 27 February - up to 2330 hrs
Five days in Svalbard and near the geographic North Pole.
The Storm Éowyn forecast worsens across much of the north, with an Amber weather warning for Friday. Snow is expected.

Exceptionally strong gusts, over 90 mph in Cumbria and North Yorkshire during rush hour and throughout Friday, are forecast.

The snow depths across the Lake District are very inconsistent, but it seems deepest in the south and east of Cumbria. Conditions on all the high passes and in the fells are also very difficult. Take care if you need to be out and about.

Although this isn’t a named storm, conditions are abysmal across the Lake District this evening. Take great care if you’re out and about early. Very strong winds are forecast throughout tomorrow alongside heavy rain, sleet and snow. Storm Éowyn might not officially be here, but it feels like it.

If you’re planning outdoor adventures over the next couple of days keep an even closer eye than normal on the weather. I’d put money on this one becoming #StormDarragh and the wind strength and direction could be quite impactful.
