My point is, yeah, the biggest percentage of rural voters are lockstep with the GOP and I don't know what to do about that. But the No Kings protest made connections for these small groups. It made them less afraid, it made them less alone. Mass movements *start* like that.

But what will move rural voters? I attended a No Kings protest in deep red rural America and over 150 people turned out. You could see how each person was galvanized because they did not realize they had allies. And they would say "oh wow, that's Jim from the Elks." Or "she works at the diner"

At this point we all know the message he is sending: no, he won't endorse a Muslim candidate for NYC mayor. Some people on here will scream at me that Schumer can't be a bigot, there are a couple of Muslim Democrats in Congress. But for NYC, Schumer would rather the serial sexual harasser.

I went to one in a very small town in the Midwest. They were hoping for 10-15 people and they got 175. The attendees were so chuffed to realize they weren't alone in that county. And most of them were 60+

Police reform in the future is a must - and in my mind, that has to include cleaning house, firing scores of cops. The legalities of that would be a mess, which doesn't mean we can't do it - just be aware that might backfire in a way that gives cops even more power.

I assumed that the anti-trans posture of the UK was driven by the courts, gov -- helped by Rowling's legal advocacy -- but that most people, certainly those in the arts, found these policies abhorrent. But I guess all those Brit actors don't care at all. (Except the original Potter actors)

Isn't the best way to do it to defeat Mills in the primary? She's old, but not evil. Can progressives make a case for why Platner is better, and do that to Maine voters? If it's really that hard, then yeah, Mills will beat him. Voters will decide, the power is literally in their hands.
