Every night before I fall asleep I think about the Grand Canyon…
Oooh wow - you played the long game!
Wow at 400mm is amazing! My longest lens is 70-350 and I hired a 200-600. That photo was taken at 600. Plus my camera is APS-C so there’s the crop factor too. I need to get closer!!
These are absolutely brilliant! Do you mind me asking what your setup is? I’ve become obsessed with trying to get a good kingfisher photo 😂 I even hired a longer lens. But I still didn’t manage to get detail like you’ve got! I need to get closer, or even longer lens! This is my best effort so far…
This photograph is absolutely brilliant! I think the photographer should enter it into next year’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition 🐀 ⚽️

Yeah I regularly go to check the sewer outfall and usually one flies out of there. It’s so bitter-sweet to see kingfishers there. Often little egrets and herons too. And recently a grey wagtail. It became a noisy hangout in the summer for a while and they disappeared. But they’re back now.
Yes it was in the Olympic Park - in Henniker’s Ditch/Channelsea River - where the sewer outflow is 😞 I often see them there.
Absolutely beautiful!!!! I got some more photos the other day. Couldn’t get close so had to crop in so much I lost all the detail 🙈 need a longer lens.

I thought it'd be fun to document my thoughts on the London Loop as I'm walking it, something I wish I'd done when I walked the Capital Ring last year. It's been a while since I flexed my creative muscles, really enjoyed writing this. nikmortimer.substack.com/p/london-loo...

Finally kicked off the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social this morning, a very windy 9 mile walk from Erith to Bexley with @gojauntly.bsky.social as my trusty guide. Hard to believe some of this scenery is still technically in London, gorgeous stuff. Looking forward to getting stuck in now.
With a dollar in my hand 🎵
Where would you recommend for autumn and winter bird watching in Scotland? 🦅
That photo was meant to be of one flying out but I missed it entirely 🤦‍♀️
Saw a seal swimming in the Thames on the way to @rspb.bsky.social Rainham Marshes 🦭

They have a scope set up in the visitor centre and you can see seals basking on the opposite shore. There was a pup splashing about at the water’s edge 🌊
Rare bird spotted on the way to @rspb.bsky.social Rainham Marshes 🐦
So cute and fluffy! Do they usually stay local or move to new territory once their parents chase them off?
Oooh so exciting!!! Feels like you’ve seen an otherworldly being! 🧚‍♀️
This is the outfall I mean. I often see them fly in and out of there or perched nearby. Well perched until I try and take a photo then they fly 😂
It was by the outfall under Spitalfields carpark. I’ve seen them fishing there a few times. Here are some even worse photos I took at the same spot last week 🤪 maps.app.goo.gl/4g8q1t8UeJZa...

A young kingfisher

When walking along the River Lea at Hackney Marshes, you can encounter these fledglings who are very confiding.

Kingfisher last night by the River Lea. Still not managed to get a decent photo of one! @londonkingfishers.bsky.social
That’s brilliant!!!

Happy #PostboxSaturday, everyone! This is the postbox that started the hashtag, found on Peveril Downs, the place where the idea for The Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society was born. #Swanage ☺️📮☁️🎉
