Oh, and these are only for skaters for now. I'll hopefully get to goalies soon but I'll probably do team cards next.
If you want to use or share these feel free but follow the terms of use as shown next to the player card on the players page.

Mostly, provide a link back and/or acknowledgement of the source (The Stanley Cap), don't overburden our servers with unapproved hotlinks, and fair use rules apply.
Here is a sample player card for sharp shooter Pavel Dorofeyev where you can clearly see he has had a hard accurate shot for a few seasons now. He's not much of a skater though.
Here is where I am at with the player cards. I know some people prefer red=bad and blue=good but my eyes don't work that way and that isn't how the website is set up either. So think Red=Hot=Good, Blue=Cold=Bad.
Not good for color blind people which is why I think people use blue instead of green.
A lot of people don't like Red indicating Good and Blue indicating Bad. My brain is completely re-wired the other way around.

No guarantee that I'll change things up, but which of these do you like better? Blue=Good or Red=Good (I probably need to tone down the color scales regardless).
Sure.

Red also often indicates high intensity and blue low intensity. McDavid is a high intensity offense player.

Also, blue is a cool colour, so a team should be cool on acquiring that player. Red is a warm colour, and teams should be hot to acquire the player.

Lots of ways to interpret colour.
It actually might be better as it can be an indicator of when the player is skating, how often do they do so at high speed.
Portrait is also generally better for social media.

It is bursts above 20mph per mile skated. Bursts above 20mph makes no sense because it isn't adjusted for ice time and I can't be sure exactly what the NHL qualifies as ES to get ice time, but adjusting for distance skated works.
Blame the late Chris Snow for this. He preferred red being good as it tends to pop a bit more than blue, especially for lighter/pinkish tones.

I'll also play around with the black borders. I'll see how they look removing them or making them grey or narrowing them to 1 pixel from two.
I'm actually not trying to identify trends as much as consistency. Is the current season consistent with the previous ones? Is it an outlier we may expect to maybe revert back to normal?
Working on some player cards (team cards coming soon too). I still have some tweaking but what are your thoughts so far? This guy seems pretty good.
If you are an avid fan of the team and already keep track of roster/lineup moves it will only be a few minutes of work a day. Your work will allow me to add new features like detailed game previews/reviews.
All that is needed is to enter transactions (promotions, demotions, injuries, etc.) and adjust lineups to reflect projected and actual game lineups. There is absolutely no math involved as the salary cap calculations are all automatically done.
Interested in supporting an NHL Salary Cap website? I have about half the teams covered and half are still looking for a volunteer to maintain rosters and lineups.

Teams in need of admins are: BUF, BOS, TOR, CAR, CBJ, NJD, PHI, CHI, NSH, STL, UTA, WPG, ANA, CGY, SJS, SEA, VAN, VGK.
Are you interested in helping run an NHL Salary Cap website? I am looking for volunteers to help maintain NHL rosters and lineups for the upcoming season. The only requirement is that you are a fan of one (or more) NHL teams and have the ability to enter team transactions/lineups on a daily basis.
We are still looking for volunteers to help maintain team transactions and rosters/lineups. Plenty of teams are still in need of admins.

I spent a good part of yesterday and today optimizing the team and player pages on TheStanleyCap.com. I have more that I can do but they should load somewhat faster now. Team page load times reduced ~30-40% and player pages ~20%.

I am looking for this help so I don't need to do this for all 32 teams this season allowing me to focus on adding new features and growing the site.
I've had a few questions about how much work this will be. For most teams it might be 5-10 minutes per day and some days maybe none. It requires updating lineups on game days and entering transactions (promotions/demotions from minors mostly) when they occur.
