Before Trump's inauguration, I wrote how there would be movement with Israel and Russia concurrent with his timeline as President.

War didn’t start on Oct 7, and peace doesn’t end with a photo-op. Peace isn’t the pause between wars. It’s the work that follows.

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

An audio reading of my latest piece “In Defense of Leftist Self-Critique.” I reflect on my activism, research on Ukraine, and how those experiences shaped a more philosophical path focused on solidarity over reaction.

We talk about confronting power, but rarely about confronting ourselves. This essay is about why self-critique is as important as exterior critique.

Fear of death is the moral architecture of domination. A politics that denies mortality, even of itself, becomes secular theology, as a totalizing system, and will defend itself as such.

“The obvious next step in that playbook is to expand from targeting immigrants to go after anarchists, leftists, and other opponents of the regime…”

What does that mean?

How can we prepare to weather the storm?

When institutions capable of higher forms of evidence, such as systematic reviews, lose trust, the order of evidence flips. The strongest are dismissed for their source, while anecdotes circulate as their antithesis. The loss of trust can be valid, or arise from abstractions based in symbolism.

It’s a heavy day for a lot of people, and for different reasons. I’m grateful for some birthday lightness too. Here are my gifts: Elvira and Žižek 🎂
A black Elvira “Mistress of the Dark” coffin-shaped mug sits next to Slavoj Žižek’s book Living in the End Times, with a partially visible birthday cake in the background.

Netanyahu has offered military escorts to foreign journalists for guided tours of Gaza that sanitize and legitimize genocide.

We call on our peers to refuse to embed with these Israeli propaganda tours. #BoycottIDFEmbeds
