It's good people keep writing articles like this because it's scary that half of our health care workforce is thinking about leaving. But are hospital administrators paying attention? Or do they not care as long as the money rolls in?

Why so many doctors and nurses are walking away from health care jobs
Health care workers throughout the US are thinking of making a career change due everything from budget cuts to not feeling appreciated.

This is government censorship, yes? I want the same rules about free speech to apply to all of us. I also don't condone anyone inciting violence, and I don't condone the violent tactics of ICE.

I'm sorry, is the Trump Administration talking to a tech platform?

Is it...requesting content moderation?
Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target @ICEgov agents in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

Really loving SHE'S NOT SORRY by Mary Kubica It's a thriller and the main character is an ICU nurse. The book is so spot on about nursing, which is very cool. See below--she nails one primary cause of burnout. I'm enjoying the mystery, too. And it's set in Chicago, where I met my husband.

Speaking today @jhforg.bsky.social program: "Death & Dying."
It's hard for people to talk about death, but unfortunately we will all need to have that conversation some day. This program helps clinicians navigate those difficult clinical waters.

Death & Dying Fellowship
The Death and Dying Fellowship, held each winter, addresses a key challenge: the reality that professionals are ill-prepared to communicate about death, dying, and grief with patients and families.

Kennedy Said He Wouldn’t Take Away Vaccines.

With the Shutdown, troops in Chicago & scary abuse from ICE we could lose sight of critical health care issues. Excellent column @danielleofri.bsky.social @nytopinion.nytimes.com on limiting access to life-saving vaccines.

The "Healing Newsletter" on Substack: Tylenol-Autism research and how the study Pres Trump referred to is not persuasive. Also, one of the lead authors has a serious conflict of interest. Read the research to know the truth.https://theresabrown.substack.com/p/read-the-research-to-learn-whats

A close look at the research exploring whether prenatal Tylenol use causes autism. The by-far largest study ever says there is no link. When facts are under attack and being manipulated, it's important to read the research and think for ourselves. www.cancernursingtoday.com/post/a-close...
A Close Look at the Research: Tylenol Does Not Cause Autism | Cancer Nursing Today
The research article that was referred to in support of the acetaminophen-autism link is a systematic review published in Environmental Health in 2025, writes Theresa Brown, RN.

When 13.6 million Americans lose their Medicaid and can only go to the emergency room because they have no other options to access healthcare, who’s paying for it? The American taxpayer.

I don't like having a government shutdown, but the Democrats are fighting for Medicaid & health insurance subsidies. As a nurse, I'm 100% behind that. If people can't pay for care they can't access it. We're the richest country in the world. We can do better for our citizens. @indivisible.org

I know there's a lot of gratuitous misery in our country right now, but I'm so relieved my daughter's operation went well. Sometimes focusing on the personal is where we can find the light.

My new "Healing Newsletter"--pictures and stories from my travels over the last year. A friend said he wanted travel stories as a distraction from all the political mess in the U.S. I was happy to oblige. I'll be back to health care soon enough. Here's the link: open.substack.com/pub/theresab...

I like what you say. Someone saying the main problem at American Universities is "victimhood" hasn't spent much time at a university lately. I'd say the number one problem is the incredible cost of college. Overfocus on athletics, and all the problems you mention.

Moral Injuries Make the DSM-5 and Nurses Get a Shout-Out!

About damn time! Nursing & moral injury seem to go hand-in-hand these days, but it doesn't have to be that way. Making safe compassionate care possible would help alleviate nurses' moral injury.

Last Spring when I was in Spain I caught the flu and was so sick it scared me. I had forgotten to get a flu shot in the rush of leaving the country for 3 months. Never again. I may still get sick after getting the shots, but not nearly as sick as I would be without them.
