![Some weeks, the milk, cereal, eggs, and oatmeal from those paper checks were the only groceries we had.
Thanks to WIC and other federal programs, New Mexicans make it through. That’s why, as governor, I will always fight to protect the programs that help families survive during these difficult moments.
But right now, funding for WIC is at risk because of the ongoing Trump shutdown, fueled by Republicans' desire to cut and destroy healthcare. If this shutdown drags on, over 6 million families will lose access to the nutrition they rely on.
Families deserve security, that’s why, as governor, I’ll always make sure essential programs have the funding New Mexicans rely on — even when Republicans in Washington play political games that put families at risk.
There’s too much at stake. No family should be allowed to go hungry.

![ICE raids continue across our country, with Chicago currently at the epicenter.
Just in the past two weeks, a number of alarming incidents involving ICE agents have occured. A Chicago teacher said that tear gas wafted toward a school playground. Two women were dragged from a car by ICE agents next to a school during pickup. In a militarized raid on an apartment building, 37 people were arrested in which women and children were zip-tied.
Violent immigration raids are tearing apart our communities and families. Considering that more than half of immigrants are women and girls, violent immigration raids are a women’s-rights issue. That’s why we’re appalled that Apple and Google capitulated to Trump by taking away one of the only tools that we have to stay informed and safe: apps that crowdsource ICE sightings.

By passing this bill, Ireland will open the door for other EU countries to expand their bans to include sectors like IT and banking, and finally hold Israel accountable.
Ireland was the first western country to pass a complete ban on imports from apartheid South Africa in 1987 — but it only did it after a years-long grassroots campaign grew so big that it couldn’t be ignored.

![One of the most significant achievements in the feminist movement has been gaining equal access to higher education.
Donald Trump is attempting to roll back that progress.
Trump has asked nine top universities, including Vanderbilt, Dartmouth, and the University of Virginia, to sign a so-called "Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education." It requires universities to forego any consideration of gender in the admissions process and it ends support for progressive programs that advance feminism and women's studies.
That’s not all this compact does. It also requires the universities to adopt strict definitions of gender, limit international student enrollment, and provide platforms for "conservative" ideas and ideology. In exchange, Trump is promising these universities increased access to federal funding that he has throttled from other universities.
This is not a "compact"! It's a Project 2025 “anti-DEI” ultimatum that threatens gender justice and undermines academic freedom, a founding pillar of our democracy. We are calling on the nine universities targeted by Trump to vigorously defend academic freedom and not sign on to this academic blackmail.
These targeted universities must protect academic freedom and equal access to higher education. Sign to demand they reject Trump's anti-academic compact.
