Gambling has become incredibly pervasive in North America as of late.  We’re absolutely inundated with calls to go to online and physical casinos, join sports betting sites, and buy tickets to lotteries and charity lotteries.  It seems like the money spent on gambling is multiplying exponentially and it’s becoming an endemic societal problem.  With all that going on in the real world, it’s no surprise that the trend towards gambling has been mirrored in the gaming world as well. 

While the puzzle genre has been ubiquitous since the dawn of gaming, it’s typically one that we ignore as a lesser gaming experience.  Sure we have things like Tetris and Puyo Puyo that end up remarkably popular, but for the environmental puzzles, only a few end up captivating players, most notably games like Myst and the 7th Guest.  That doesn’t mean that they’ve stopped being made however and the genre has propagated for decades, slowly refining experiences and making new and innovative leaps while other types of games have stagnated by comparison.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will be getting its first content update this week on November 27, 2025. Nintendo has released A new firmware update for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing both consoles to version 21.0.1. The patch notes are as follows. Fixed an issue where Error Code: 2011-0301 or Error Code: 2168-0002 would repeatedly occur on a Nintendo Switch when attempting a system transfer using local communication from a Nintendo Switch system to a Nintendo Switch 2 system.

In 1992, Sammy and SNK released the isometric shmup, Viewpoint, for the Neo-Geo. It was acclaimed at the time for its cutting edge visuals and soundtrack and was to receive a sequel on the Nintendo 64 that was cancelled and seemingly lost to time. An in-progress ROM of the game was found and dumped online in 2020, but a bigger find has happened now.

Inti Creates has long been a force in 2D action games, but not every game they have made has landed well. Before FromSoftware was famous for the Soulslike genre, the developer had another RPG that is well regarded by fans. The King's Field series was a unique one, with first person RPG gameplay with a unique identity, but not all of the mechanics have aged well. Numerous indie devs have been inspired by King's Field and have made their own games serving as spiritual sequels, but none have managed to scratch that itch, with most falling into the same pitfalls, more on that later.
