In this session, presenters will report on PAIRR’s affordances, limitations, and possible adaptations for different WAC contexts. There will also be ample opportunity for questions.

The PAIRR approach features (1) readings about AI to promote discussion, (2) paired peer review and rubric-driven AI feedback, and (3) student reflection on feedback and revision. Through funding from the CA Educational Learning Lab, the presenters have expanded the project to 8 colleges.

Here's a description of the workshop:

Responding to the need for AI-related WAC guidance, and with the support of an AWAC Research Initiative Grant, the presenters created a pedagogical approach that fostered AI literacy, metacognition, and agency development in WAC courses at UC Davis.

In the 11 years since the Statement was released, much empirical research has been conducted, and educational climates internationally have shifted.

And so AWAC welcomes individuals interested in this revision work to join us in this effort through one or more of these opportunities.

It's been 11 years since the International Network of WAC Programs and Conference on College Composition and Communication endorsed the Statement of WAC Principles and Practices.

AWAC believes it's time to revisit and assess whether those principles and practices still hold true.
