Also, when your prediction is wrong, you can blame it on X, Y or Z. If you make a clear mistake about a game, you just look stupid. People want to maintain the illusion of being knowledgeable so they are more comfortable discussing things that aren’t falsifiable. This extends beyond sport.

The reason people like trades more than games is: potential is more exciting than reality (self-delusion) and also, you can give opinions about potential without having to back it up with knowledge/work. Predictions are easy, analysis and understanding the game is HARD.
