But for the first 1-2 years that was not the case, a lot of developers physically moved to avoid mobilisation and affiliation. Basically Russian gamedev is now split between Serbia, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Poland, etc... Which is a good indication of these devs moral stance on the war.

The case was Valve's payment processor (Xsolla, I thiiink?) shut down the payments for all banks to avoid accidental breach of sanctions, as by mid-2022 I think only Raiffaisenbank was safe to work with. I just googled and currently there are indeed legal workarounds setup for buyers and devs.

(There are probably workarounds by now, but for gods sake, I usually see these comments under indie games made by like 5 person teams fueled by instant ramen and enthusiasm, that totaly can't afford the workarounds...)

All of that is especially annoying, knowing that Steam blocks widthdrawing profits to Russia since 2022, and all the taxes go to Kazakhstan / Georgia / Armenia or something in many-many cases.
