Personally, I’d remove it. It probably is serving as some type of habitat, but the risk of bad stuff leaching from it for decades is too great imo. Best to take it out and replace it with brush as you perform regular maintenance

Hmmm good question. My favorite from last year for flavor with no heat was Trinidad Perfume. Favorite with heat was Aji Guyana, which was also insanely prolific
