Don't forget about your local animal shelter too! Many of them collect and share resources with people in need, including food, new or gently used toys, beds, collars, leashes, etc. Some will even accept open bags of dry food (in original packaging) if you got something your fur kid wouldn't eat.

we had a bear 5ish years ago, about 1/4 mile away? Only caught on the neighbors security cameras trying to get into garbage cans. The joy of living near green space!

Wednesdays are my "no commitments" day, so I can take time to hike with Rowan in the morning... except this is the 3rd time this fall that this big boy has interrupted my plans by blockingthe trail... #DogsofBluesky #ColoradoWildlife

A zoomed in shot down the street where a huge bull elk is grazing at the side of a house, basically blocking the neighborhood trail access. His herd is most likely just out of view on the green space.

My poor boy got rushed by a loose dog tonight... neighbors dog went "kool-aid man" and busted through a screen door. Thankfully, he stopped short - not sure if the cattle dog was intimidated by Rowan or scared by the crazy lady screaming at him... #DogsofBluesky #ReactiveDog

Another wildlife detour this morning, this time for a coyote on the trail who almost interrupted Rowan's morning 💩. We circled around and went to sniff all down his backtrail instead. #DogsofBluesky

another tip when traveling with a new dog is to close the car door or hatch on the leash handle so that you can grab the leash before opening the door. It helps to prevent accidental escapes!

Check your local shelter website for what they will take for donations, mine will accept open bags of dry dog and cat food as long as it is in the original package- a great option if you've gotten something your pet doesn't like!
