The first week of every month, I publish a post about the most exciting sapphic book releases from the last month. January was a great month for queer literary works and contemporary romances. Some highlights include The Lamb by Lucy Rose and We Could Be Rats by Emily R. Austin. Check them out! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š

Noo, don't let my opinions deter you! You might like it, and I might have been overly triggered by the YA elements... Let me know your thoughts when you finish!
When They Burned the Butterfly attempts to earn its adult rating with heavy-handed social commentary and a grittier tone, but it still feels like a YA book masquerading as adult. I have nothing against YA, but it isn't what I'm personally looking for in an exciting new Asian sapphic fantasy. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š
I Desperately Wish I Liked When They Burned the Butterfly More Than I Did
This sapphic fantasy set in postcolonial Singapore had all the makings to become one of my favorite reads of the year.

A new Clem & West novel just dropped yesterday, and I am frothing at the mouth. If you're into cosmic horror and secondary-world modern fantasy, you HAVE to check out this sapphic fantasy series by Hiyodori. It's easily my favorite thing on the market right now. I need more people to understand!
My Lips, Her Voice by L.L. Madrid is a horror sapphic novel that released this week about a girl whose dead sister returns lurking under her skin, hellbent on vengeance and desperate to rekindle things with her former girlfriend. It's giving me spooky Life is Strange vibes, and I am intrigued. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š
Surprisingly, no. But I do reallt want to play 1000xResist, thanks for reminding me!
(Bonus points if you can guess the games!)
If I had a quarter for every time I played a game this year where the mentor figure is a future version of the MC who was transported back in time and had to wait for millenia to meet themselves again, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
(Bonus points if you can guess the games.)
The Keeper of Magical Things is a delightful sapphic fantasy to read, drawing on Leongโ€™s talent for low-stakes conflicts, charming protagonists, and whimsical storytelling. It left me feeling like Iโ€™ve witnessed something magicalโ€”a story that isnโ€™t afraid to embrace its genre and shine in it. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š
The Keeper of Magical Things is My Favorite Cozy Fantasy of the Year (So Far)
Julie Leongโ€™s second novel is a delightful sapphic fantasy about the importance of kindness.

Omg, I love this novella so much! Sexy huge spider woman :>
If you haven't already, check out these two new sapphic books that just released this week. The first is Cinder House by Freya Marske, a Gothic sapphic retelling of Cinderella, and the second is Her Wicked Roots, a Gothic sapphic retelling of Rappaccini's Daughter. Lots of retelling this month! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š
The cover is gorgeous again too! ๐Ÿคฉ
Woke up today to the news that I got approved for the sequel to Strange Beasts, Wayward Souls, and I am a very happy woman. Can't wait to dive back into the world of my favorite sapphic fantasy of last year!
Strange Beasts just so perfectly encapsulates my tastes as a reader that I canโ€™t help but love it. If the idea of a historical sapphic fantasy with compelling female leads and a sympathetic perspective on womanhood and monsterhood sounds up your alley, then I can't recommend this novel enough. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š
One Year Later, I Still Miss My First Time Experiencing Strange Beasts
Finally, I get to talk about my favorite sapphic read of 2024.

I will never understand why publishers continue to use the same shitty art style for their romance covers. You know the one. Nothing is less sexy than cartoon borderless characters. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š
Ever look at a book synopsis and think it would be so much better if it were sapphic fiction instead?
My body is not ready.
@cathypegau.bsky.social Congratulations on your new release!
As it turns out, I missed some awesome new releases when I posted this blog earlier in the morning. I've just come back from my classes and added four new sapphic books that you should definitely include in your TBR! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š
So remember when I said that August was full of sapphic horror releases? Well, Sapphic September introduces a whole lot of โ€œcozy spooky.โ€ We have multiple supernatural romances and the odd horror anthology in Teenage Girls Can Be Demons. There are also new gorgeous sapphic fantasy releases! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š

Today is the release date for not one, but TWO of C.L. Clark's newest sapphic books. The first is The Sovereign, the thrilling conclusion to the acclaimed Magic of the Lost trilogy, and the second is Fate's Bane, a standalone fantasy novella that promises to be "a tragic sapphic adventure." ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š
Okay yay, good to know! This will be my first Abercrombie!
This Saturday, New York's biggest independent bookstore is celebrating its 98th anniversary with 20% off storewide! I have no idea what to expect, but I'm really hoping to snag a copy of Joe Abercrombie's newest release, The Devils. I think the hardcover is so gorgeous. ๐Ÿ˜ #booksky
