when I was in high school it GRATED me when people pronounced my name as “hunner” because there’s a whole ass T in the middle of my name but as I’ve gotten older I really find it endearing when I hear people pronounce my name as Hunnerr (way more common than people including the hard T)

I’ve been all in on Carter since Devil’s Still Down in Georgia in 2022, so I’ve been looking forward to this album for awhile.

I do think it’s better than Miranda’s debut. I think Carter’s voice is stronger here and she has a much clearer picture of who she is as an artist.

C. Faith, Cherry Valley (****1/2): The finest mainstream country debut since Miranda's Kerosene a generation ago, and it's not particularly close, and daresay this is even better than that record. Clever as all get out and twangy AF, Faith re-sets the bar for the neo-neo-traditionalist insurgency.
