I'm happy this little volume came out this year. (Still working to find a publisher for all of _PhiloSophia_.) But I'm also glad I got to meet Sezgin Boynik in October, and I hope you'll consider purchasing any of the editions published by Rab-Rab Press.

I had been to the Gallimard store some time back for an event with Georgi Gospodinov and the legendary BG-->FR translator Marie Vrinat-Nikolov.

Passing some time before French class yesterday, stopped to look at the Gallimard windows on Boulevard Raspail, and noticed that a translator can have a whole *event* here in France. Rare in US?

Il n'y a rien qui montre, autant que l'impuissance d'une traduction, que les vers sont créés non seulement et non tant à partir de mots, d'idées, de mètres et d'images, qu'à partir du temps qu'il fait, de la nervosité, du silence, de la séparation...
Qu'ils sont formés non seulement par les lignes noires des caractères d'imprimerie, mais aussi par les blancs entre les lignes, pauses profondes qui commandent la respiration... et l'âme... Comment traduire les blancs entre les lignes, cette provision d'air que prennent les poumons entre deux qua-trains ?

It is so easy to read when the type is set up and the sentences printed in proper sequence; so difficult to decipher defaced inscriptions in an unknown language.
